A U.S. Army unit is changing the lyrics to the song Army Green from the military’s original song Army Blues.
The change was announced Thursday, according to a Army news release.
Army Chief of Staff Gen. Mark Milley, in a speech Thursday, said the Army has begun to address the negative impact that the song has had on the community and the service.
Milley said Army Blue is no longer a standard song for the troops.
“We’ve learned how to better address this song’s negative influence,” Milley told the Army House of Representatives.
Milley also said the song was created by a former Navy Seal.
He said the changes are aimed at helping the Army improve its image as a community-centered force.
The change was first announced in March.
More to come.
