The Capitals are out indefinitely of Saturday night’s game against the Islanders because of a lower-body injury suffered by forward Thomas Chupt, the team announced.
Chupt was injured in the second period of Washington’s 3-2 victory over the Islanders on Sunday and was listed as questionable.
The Capitals were without forward Scottie Upshall, who was scratched from the lineup with a lower body injury.
Caps head coach Barry Trotz said Chupt has been out since Dec. 2 and that he was “doing everything he could to get ready for the game.”
The Capitals will make a decision on Chupt’s status Friday.
