News Corp Australia’s sports business editor John Bowers has written about the NRL for many years, and his latest column covers the latest news about the game and the future of the NRL in Australia.
In this article, John says the NRL’s rise is the biggest in its history and the game is well on the way to becoming the most popular sport in Australia, with more than 3 million fans tuning in every week to the NRL.
In 2017, the NRL is projected to attract around $5 billion in revenue and an estimated 4 million new fans each year.
The sport has seen unprecedented growth over the past decade and the average age of fans has grown from 35 in 2015 to 34.5 in 2019.
