Washington, DC – President Donald Trump signed a $2 billion arms deal with the United States on Wednesday, marking the first major military deal between the two countries in nearly two decades.
Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the deal at the White House, which is the latest in a series of trade agreements the US and Russia have struck in recent years.
“This is the biggest, most complex and significant military cooperation between the United Kingdom and Russia in decades,” Trump said.
“The United States and Russia will have a more advanced military capability than ever before.”
The agreement also includes military equipment and services that the US sells to Russia.
Russia has been developing its own military hardware and developing an air defense system.
Trump also announced a $500 million aid package for Russia’s military.
