On May 6, the Army Times announced its inaugural list of the Top Military Times writers.
Among the top 25 contributors were three of the four authors of The Times’ most popular Army columns, including Mike Pohl, a veteran of Iraq, and Jim Murphy, a former Army intelligence analyst who is now a veteran affairs specialist at the U.S. Army War College.
The Times had previously named three of its Top 10 Military Columnists, including one of the most popular writers on the Army blog, Mark McAfee, who was named in 2012 to the Medal of Honor Committee.
But with the publication of The Army Times’ inaugural list, The Times now joins a growing list of publications that have enlisted its help in publishing their own Military Times columns.
On Monday, The Huffington Posts, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, and the Military Times all published their own articles, and on Tuesday, The Daily Beast published an article by Army Times contributor Michael Pohl entitled “How to Make the Army Great Again.”
Pohl has been writing Army Times columns for years, having previously covered the military and foreign affairs for The Washington Post, The Associated Press, The Atlantic, the Daily Beast, and other outlets.
The ArmyTimes is the first publication in The Huffington post, and Pohl is a regular contributor.
“The ArmyTimes’ editors have been reading, debating, and critiquing the most important military topics for decades,” Pohl told The Huffington Times.
“It’s a great place to be and a great way to spend time, and I can’t wait to bring you more of this great writing.”
In a post on the publication’s website, the Times said it plans to continue publishing articles and features from the ArmyTimes.com.
“We have more than a million readers each month, and it’s great to see a publication that has the reach and the audience,” said Matt Rea, editor-in-chief of The Huffington and The Daily Post.
“While we can’t tell you when a new Army Times column will appear, we can say with confidence that we will be publishing articles from these authors in the coming weeks.”
