Posted October 01, 2019 12:01:54The alleged assault of an Iraqi refugee by British soldiers is the latest chapter in the story of the Royal Air Force (RAF) in Iraq.
On the night of December 1, 2014, a soldier was arrested in Kirkuk for sexual assault, according to the Daily Mail.
The woman, who is currently a British citizen, had been drinking and was sexually assaulted by two British soldiers in the middle of a military base, according the Daily Express.
She was released from hospital a day later and is still in Iraq, but the incident has become an issue of national concern.
Following the arrest, British Prime Minister Theresa May has said the soldier was guilty of a crime.
“He [the soldier] has obviously been guilty of the crime.
He will be prosecuted for the crime,” she said.
However, according in a press conference, the woman had “not made any allegation of wrongdoing,” adding that her allegations were a matter for the police.

A British soldier who allegedly sexually assaulted an Iraqi woman in Iraq has been charged with sexually assaulting an Iraqi girl, the Daily Telegraph reported on Wednesday.
It was revealed that the 19-year-old, from a family of British soldiers, had allegedly been arrested on December 1 after a “complaint” was made about the sexual assault on a girl in Kirkuuk, in Iraq’s Nineveh province.
According to the newspaper, the girl, now a British-American citizen, said the incident happened while she was in the military academy and that she and the soldier had gone out for drinks at a local restaurant.
One of the soldiers allegedly groped her, causing her to fall to the ground, according a police statement.
Two soldiers then allegedly assaulted the girl by forcing her onto the ground and using her as a “piggy bank” to “fuck her”, according to her account of events.
Police have been told the alleged victim was “distraught” and “angry” after the incident.
British soldiers have previously been accused of sexual assaults in Iraq with several women also accusing the troops of rape.
In 2014, an Iraqi soldier was accused of raping a 17-year old Iraqi girl in the same town where British soldiers are stationed, the Independent reported at the time.
