On a recent Sunday afternoon, Armie Hammers head coach John Herdman was making his way to the sideline as his team took on the New York Red Bulls.
As the team arrived for the game, Herdmann received a text from his son, Armiel Hammer.
“I got a text message from him saying, ‘I got my shot,'” Herdeman told Fox Sports.
“He’s like, ‘Dad, the Red Bulls have us.
You’re gonna get your shot.’
So we go to the bench, we sit there and he says, ‘You got a shot, dad.
You got your shot.
I’ve been looking at it.'”
Armiel’s father, Armand Hammer, has had a huge impact on the career of the American soccer player and he was thrilled to see the Red Bull sign him.
“We just went to the game with him and we said, ‘It’s a big deal,'” Armie told Fox.
“It’s just unbelievable.
He’s just a great kid.
I love the game and I know how much he loves the game.
He just loves to get it in the net.”
With the help of a pair of former MLS players, Herdsman was able to get Hammer on the scoresheet and it paid off.
Armie’s goal came just after he had been forced to defend against a high ball from the Red B’s back line.
“When you get the opportunity to defend and you get a chance to get a ball in, I just think you’ve got to get that ball,” Herdmans son explained.
You just can’t let your guard down. “
And when you do, you have to put your head down and get the next one.
You just can’t let your guard down.
It’s just something that’s going to come.”
For Herdmen, who coached the American national team to victory in the 2010 World Cup, the signing of Hammer has made him more than a little more excited.
“They did a fantastic job signing him,” Herdsmans son said.
He brings so much joy to the team and it’s really nice to see him grow up here.” “
There’s a lot of young guys who are growing up playing soccer right now that have been watching him.
He brings so much joy to the team and it’s really nice to see him grow up here.”
Hammer has been a fan favorite since joining the Red Army and his impact has been undeniable.
In 2016, Hammer became the youngest American player to score a goal in a major international competition, making his debut against Sweden in the 2018 FIFA World Cup.
Since then, Hammer has scored 15 goals in 20 appearances for the Red Wings and he is considered to be one of the top talents in the league.
“If you’re a young player, you’ve just got to try to learn from your mistakes,” Herdin said.
Hammer is currently ranked fifth in the world in goals per game at 3.4 goals per 90 minutes.
“For the first time in my life, I’ve had a chance,” Hammer said.
It is also no secret that Herdemen’s career is on the upswing and he believes that signing him for the next two years will help the Red Bank product reach the heights he has reached over the past two seasons.
“As you know, we signed him in the summer of 2020, so obviously, it was kind of a gamble,” Herdders son explained, “but it’s paid off.”
With Armie playing well in both the regular season and the playoffs, Herddeman has been able to add more to his roster.
“After the World Cup last year, we were able to sign a couple of players,” Herdtons son explained to Fox.
Herdmer and his wife, Jennifer, have a son, Jaden, born in December. “
His form is definitely better and we think that with the rest of the team, we’ll be able to make some good improvements.”

Herd is not done signing players, however.
He has a few other goals lined up for his players.
“With Armie, he’s going in for a second season in the Red and I think the rest [of the team] has to come in for another season,” Herndmans son added.
“Right now, we have some big goals lined on the table for next season and we’ll see what happens.”
